A delightful article about the fearmongering and hypocrisy that typifies the republican party.
-
An interesting, measured look at both candidates and the races they have run. The part about Senator McCain is noteworthy in it's maturity.
-
not only are these posters awesome, I want to see some of these movies - particularly "taxi to the dark side"
-
Oh shit I knew that guy was secretly an evangelical
-
we will pay for the things we have done for one hundred years
-
This makes me wonder - how come there aren't more trailers for books these days? This seems like a super cheap way to talk about what your book is about and explain it's appeal
-
Wow what an awesome series of self portraits. I'd love to see an animated short like this, where the tree-man interacts with an old homeless guy that lives in the park on his head.
-
The best thing about hitchens is when he's wrong at least he's spectacularly entertaining. Except in this case he's right.
-
Oh man I want to live in a zeppelin so bad. So so bad.
-
very cool graffiti.
-
wow amazing - beautiful views of the dutch tulip industry

"Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. What I do know is this, everyone is a genius in a bullmarket. The last 5 years, that wasn’t a stock market. THIS is a stockmarket. This time it is different. This may just be the new normal."
Nice. I love Mark Cuban's blog, especially when he's not talking about sports. Reading the story of how he got started is very inspirational.

"This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity."
-
sweet fake versions of Shepard Fairey's iconic hope poster
-
hmm I definitly have to pick this one up
-
jesus christ Diamond is boring. The good thing about this talk is that you can watch this and not read Collapse because he basically covers everything in the book in like 20 minutes.
-
some really great portrait photography. I love the style.
-
a couple of great Obama pics by Callie Shell
-
Wow super cool image. When did the desktop wallpaper become an artistic medium of choice?
-
This… has long term negative impacts for the United States. The US Dollar would probably cease to be the world's reserve currency (if that process hasn't already begun) and this currency would probably give these states significant power.
-
really trippy ads - sort of reminds one of the MI face mask system
-
really cool font design here. I want to live on these fonts.
-
I can't wait until this election is over and the specifics of the internal dynamics of this campaign are revealed. The egos must be huge.
-
Good luck, man. Just ask Sarah Palin what happens when an unqualified person runs for office
-
very interesting work from Justine Smith, using collages of money in a really interesting way.
-
Wow this is actually surprisingly awesome. It's touching in a nostailgic sort of bittersweet way
-
Looks like John McCain is losing his mind. I wonder if he thinks that if he goes arcane enough people wont realize he's lying.
-
It can't be easy for them, honestly.
-
HAHA YES! El Tinklenberg 08! Finally the GOP does something that I agree with!
-
This campaign one-ups itself with wierd twists like once every half a week. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like on Nov 5
-
BECAUSE ITS A COMPLICATED MARKET
-
xplaining why he prefers print over the Web, he cites a scene from the movie “Back to School,” when Rodney Dangerfield asks his son why he’s buying used books. “And he says, ‘Because they’re already underlined, see?’ And Rodney says, ‘But that guy could have been a maniac.’ And that’s the problem with the Internet.”
-
god damn it what is this its beautiful
-
I'm not sure what this is but it's really pretty
-
I love these dolls. totally sick.
-
Chris used to be an AI programmer at Kaos, and now telecommutes at Relic. He built himself this huge brain floating in a tank next to the monitor that has his face displayed during working hours
-
This is noteworthy for several reasons, a) the title is intentionally sarcastically funny and b) it's crazy that he even thought to do this.
-
it is what it is
-
Great discussion going on in this thread. You don't always see rational discussion in comment threads on the internet so this is a little refreshing.
-
holy shit did Chomsky just kind of endorse Obama? This is the endorsement I was waiting for. I am no longer an undecided
-
Ha ha - Edwardian Script - "I am a wanker". What font are you?
-
A nice sunny look at America's credit issues. It's hard to really extract what is going on for real and you hear some pretty wild variations on the "true story". I guess time will tell.
-
The title says it all. Looks like this crap is going to be in my safe box pretty soon
-
Interet + Japan * Chimpanzee = COMEDY!!!
-
"Personally, while I recognize the appeal (to others, not me) of the "singularity" narrative, which has the human race making a sudden evolutionary leap into some kind of cyborg-nirvana, I regard it as an utter bullshit fantasy that has zero chance of occurring, given our stark predicament."
I love you Jim
-
This is an excellent point. I'd be interested to know exactly what our expenditures on foreign oil is.
-
Really great illustrations here. Nice and whimsical. So much less whimsy in the world these days.
-
wow wow wow. Just awesome. I love Micheal Ruhlmann for his orange book series (X of a Chef, read 'em all), but this makes my heart swell with joy. Our food production, distribution and definitions are going to be some of the key challenges in the next century and it's great to see an article that talks about solutions and not just the problems.
-
In some ways cheap oil is more of a disaster than expensive oil. It just seems like a disaster no matter what. Reminds me of a quote I heard yesterday - "In the long run, we are all dead" - John Maynard Keynes
-
I'd be interested to know what, from his point of view, was irrational about the recent oil price spike. I know it's largely been blamed on "rogue speculators", but it's never been adequately explained to me what that means. Always interested to get an outsiders view on a national security issue
